World No Tobacco Day

Every year, on 31st May, WHO marks World No Tobacco Day, highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use and advocating for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption. It is intended to encourage a 24 hour period of abstinence from all form of tobacco consumption around the globe. The theme of this year’s program was “Stop elicit trade of tobacco product” . A health educational program was organized by the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Kalka Dental College, Meerut.

Highlights of the program:

  •   Health education and motivation of patients to stop the tobacco consumption in any form.
  • Distribution of  the informatory materials
  • Informatory videos related to oral cancer and tobacco use were also screened to draw public attention.
  • Conducted an oral cancer screening camp and counseling sessions regarding the ill effects of tobacco.
