Prosthodontics is a specialized field of dentistry focused on the restoration and replacement of missing or lost natural teeth and their supporting structures with artificial alternatives. The primary objective of prosthodontics is to enhance the patient's oral function, comfort, and overall health while achieving an aesthetically appealing outcome. This discipline also encompasses surgical techniques, including the placement of implants into the jawbone to support artificial teeth. Apart from the teeth, the replacement of missing or deficient surrounding parts like palate, cheeks, nose, eyes, ears etc also comes under this branch.
The structure of the training program aims to achieve high standards in clinical and laboratory procedures, while also prioritizing the development of students' attitudes and communication skills. Students are introduced to fundamental preclinical Prosthodontic techniques and the manipulation of dental materials. They are trained in the production of removable and fixed dentures, both complete and partial. The program provides extensive training in complete dentures, removable partial dentures, fixed Prosthodontics, maxillofacial prosthetics, along with implant dentistry, aesthetic dentistry, and cases involving TMJ and occlusion. Materials of international standards , intraoral scanners and state of the art modern equipments such as CAD / CAM are used by the department
